The 2nd tier underlings are becoming more and more confident of pulling their masks off for all to see. This is a sign that Truth is being outed. What this means for America is completely up to the national turnout.

If the masks falling to the ground fail to convince people to actually show up and actually vote in an actual election, this country to done. As in -over… America will be decades of a combination of 1970’s South Africa and modern day Russia, with a democratic Europe isolated as the stalwarts of Democracy.

I know many people were irritated with NBC for giving Trump a town hall, but honestly, my guess was that this was going to be a brutal comparison for Trump, and that people who got tired of him would then possibly switch over to Biden and go “hmmm….he sounds normal.”

This afternoon he had Biden at -210. I got Biden at +105 two months ago and wanted to get down for more but the odds changed the next day and have shot up since.

so does that mean for every 100 you were betting, you were getting 105 on the win for Biden? That seems damned good. And then I probably can’t figure out what -210 means. presumably you have to risk 210 dollars to make 100, maybe?

Yes. I bet 300 (the max) to win $315 on Biden. Now if you want to wager on Biden, for every $100 you want to win you would risk $210.

Also, +105 expressed as a percentage chance would be about 49%. -210 is about 67%

My favorite Mr. Rogers story, from the incomparable Johnathan Kozol (when he was working on “Ordinary Resurrections”):

Occasionally I’ll bring people with me to meet the children. The person they loved most is somebody with whom every student at Bates—and, I’ll bet, every alumnus and alumna—would love to spend a day, a man named Mr. Rogers. Fred Rogers said he’d like to meet the kids, but asked me if I thought that it would be intrusive. (I couldn’t help smiling at the thought of Mr. Rogers being intrusive.) We went up on the No. 6 train, and it was a nice experience to ride with Mr. Rogers on the train. There he was, the same sweet guy that children have been learning from for 40 years. He even had his sweater and his sneakers and his bow tie, and people on the train kept looking at him kind of strangely. We got off the train at Brook Avenue. We walked one block, and a garbage truck came screeching to a halt. The driver, a 50-year-old black man, jumped out and hugged Mr. Rogers.

We went to St. Ann’s, where Elio spotted Mr. Rogers from across the crowded room. He zoomed straight across the room with his arms spread wide. At the moment of collision, he gave him a big kiss on the forehead. He said, “Welcome to my neighborhood, Mr. Rogers.”

I’ve sort of felt blessed that we have important elections every year here in Va. Every year I’m voting for somebody that will represent or govern me in Richmond or Washington. Change is the journey. We have to make it better for the future generations and we’re going to work a bit harder. This country’s got a great future ahead of it but with great change often comes reactionaries who not only refuse to see the positives of changes but also violently oppose them.

Wingnuts think she was terrible too. For entirely opposite reasons.

It’s like much of the mainstream media is completely disconnected from reality. The right has Stockholm Syndrome’d them for a long time. The 1994 Crime Bill has so much disinformation fed about it and I blame Sanders for contributing to a lot of that while holding back he voted for it and ran on his support of it in the past. And since she wasn’t, AFAICT, identified as “Congresswoman Joli”, I guess her campaign was not successful….

They really think he’s this giant victim. It’s pathetic especially coming from the mustard concern troll Hannity.

This sense of victimhood and grievance is apparently a major component of authoritarian and fascist groups’ ideologies.

Star Trek: Discovery tonight.

This season has potential that the past two didn’t have for me. We’ll see how it goes. Meanwhile I’m far more looking forward to Prodigies and Picard S2.

One quibble about the Nichols comment. I suspect that the networks would just view lighting a bucket of mice on fire as content that would increase revenue and audience.

True now as it’s always been.

On Rachel Maddow noting that NBC forced MSNBC to simulcast Trump.

Yes, Wednesday all of the MSNBC hosts were clearly unhappy about this.

At the end of his Wednesday show, Chris Hayes said “Apparently I do not have a show tomorrow night”. And Rachel Maddow made several comments in the course of her show.

I agree with their distaste of NBC actions. And I really respect the hosts and enjoy their shows. But determined that I would not be increasing the viewers on NBC or its affiliates tonight.

I am also seriously considered identifying the advertisers on the DT show and letting them know I was highly displeased with their support of this.

Wouldn’t that just give execs a reason to get rid of Maddow?
